About Rao Chalasani
Rao Chalasani holds more than 15 years of leadership experience in the financial industry. A graduate of the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, Rao Chalasani earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering in 1994. During an on-campus recruitment event, he was the only engineering student selected by JP Morgan Chase to participate in the Leadership and Management Development Program. Rao Chalasani worked with JP Morgan Chase through October 1996, gaining diverse experience in areas such as project management, risk management, and financial services technology implementation. He subsequently served as a Project Leader for SunGard Data Systems, a trading systems vendor in New York.
In September 1997, Rao Chalasani achieved significant career advancement when he joined Merrill Lynch as Assistant Vice President of Capital Markets and Fixed Income Technology. After only two years at Merrill Lynch, he earned a promotion to a Vice President position. Most recently, in January 2009, he rose to Chief Technology Officer and Risk Strategist for Bank of America (B of A)-Merrill Lynch. Additionally, he developed the Enterprise Risk Management System, which is currently pending a U.S. patent.
Beyond his career, Rao Chalasani actively engages in charitable work that assists women with economic disadvantages. In 2003, he helped establish the Swarna Chalasani Economic Empowerment Fund, which provides women with vocational training and educational scholarships. He also contributes to organizations including the Sankara Eye Foundation, Doctors Without Borders, and an elementary school located in a rural village in India. In his personal life, he enjoys spending his free time following politics, watching sports, reading, and biking.
